The mission of the USC Judith D. Tamkin International Symposium on Elder Abuse is to create safe and healthy environments for all older people, here and across the world, by bringing together researchers, practitioners, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to share findings, strategize solutions, and help shape and propel the field of elder justice.
As part of the USC Judith D. Tamkin International Symposium on Elder Abuse’s mission, we are pleased to offer travel awards for students through the Tamkin Scholar Award. The goal of this award is to stimulate interest and scholarship in elder abuse research. Two students will receive awards. The awardees are expected to attend the Symposium in person. Hotel accommodations, travel, and registration will be provided up to a total of $1,500 per student.
Candidates shall submit an application, short statement, and a resume or CV. The statement should address why the applicant wants to attend the Symposium and how they meet the mission of the Symposium through current activities and projected endeavors in the field of elder abuse. Applicant statements shall be no more than 300 words in length. Statements that exceed the 300-word limit will not be considered.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program.

AWARD

Tamkin International Symposium on Elder Abuse on February 26-27, 2026, in Pasadena, CA. Awardees must provide receipts for hotel, travel, and registration expenditures. Awardees will be featured on the event program and website. Â
